María del Mar Zarzalejos Prieto

Graduate and PhD in Prehistory and Archaeology at the Autonomous University of Madrid (1994), where she obtained the Extraordinary Graduate and Doctorate Prizes and developed her teaching and research training as a National FPI Plan Fellow (1988-1991). She has taught at the Autonomous University of Madrid (1993-1998) and at the UNED (since 2001), where she has been Professor of Archaeology since 2017. Her professional experience extends to the field of archaeological management, as between 1998 and 2004 she was Senior Technician in Historical Heritage Management for the JCCM in the Provincial Delegation of Culture of Albacete.

Her research work, recognised with five six-year research periods and one six-year transfer period by the CNEAI, has diversified into several lines of work, including Roman ceramics and the analysis of protohistoric and Roman settlement in the Southwest of the Meseta, from the systematic research projects at the site of Sisapo-La Bienvenida (Ciudad Real) funded by the JCCM in the framework of the Systematic Excavation Plan (1990-2010) and the annual calls for competitive archaeological research projects, in all of which she holds the status of PI (2013-2021).

At UNED she has been Teaching Secretary of the International Doctoral School (2014-2016) and since 2015 she is the Director of the Department of Prehistory and Archaeology. Director of 6 doctoral theses. Member of 13 editorial boards of prestigious journals and scientific collections.

Solid experience in technical-scientific quality assessment activities in national bodies: Coordinator of the History and Art Assessment Committee of the calls associated with Grants for the Training of University Teaching Staff, of the Training and Mobility sub-programmes included in the State Programme for the Promotion of Talent and its Employability, within the framework of the State Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2013-2016. Years 2017 and 2018. Collaborator in the PHA area of the Division of Coordination, Evaluation and Technical Scientific Monitoring of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. From 1-7-2018 to 30-06-2021.
